Hi, I’m Richard Waring, and I’m a criminal defense attorney in Charleston, SC. If you’ve been charged with a DUI, possession of marijuana or cocaine, possession with intent to distribute, burglary, or any other crime, you might have asked yourself, “won’t the prosecutor just dismiss my case?”
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard that before despite the fact that the government had a strong case against a defendant. I don’t know where that idea comes from that the prosecutor will just dismiss a case for no reason, but I can assure that having been a prosecutor for years, they don’t do that.
So, then that begs the next question. What is a good reason that I can come up with for the prosecutor to dismiss the case? That’s where a good criminal defense attorney in Charleston, South Carolina or whatever area of South Carolina you’re in comes into play. Because the best chance you have of either getting your charges dismissed or getting a reduction in the charges or some other favorable result is to hire an attorney to fight your case for you.
Having witnessed countless defendants try to represent themselves on their criminal charges rather than hiring an attorney, I can tell you from experience that the ones that had attorneys frequently fared much better. That’s the harsh reality of being charged with a crime and one that you will need to overcome quickly if you’ve been charged. People that represent themselves just aren’t taken as seriously in the criminal justice system.
So, it’s important to have a criminal defense attorney who has extensive trial experience, who can investigate your case for you, uncover evidence in your favor, and try to get you the best possible result. When it counts the most, you can rely on them to have your back.
And, if you’re in the Charleston, SC area or Lowcountry of South Carolina, feel free to give me a call anytime and we can discuss you’re DUI, robbery, trafficking, or whatever the case might be. With extensive trial experience, and having prosecuted thousands of crimes, I’ll know what to look for on your case. Best of luck.
